Why am I writing this review? Well, I recently purchased a CapitalFlix subscription and have tested it out. I thought it would be a good idea to put forward a first-hand account of my experience.

So what is CapitalFlix anyway?

Put simply, it’s a website with movies to download. You pay a one off fee, (when I purchased my subscription it was for a one off lifetime fee) then simply download a movie from their large database and watch it on your pc, smart phone, or any other internet capable device that stores movies. CapitalFlix offers a wide selection of genres including comedy, romance, horror etc.

Once you have purchased your subscription, you navigate around the site by selecting links that shows you movies in the genre selected. Let’s say you want action, you click the link, then on the right hand pane you’re presented with all the movies in the genre. Once you make a selection, the movies download to your pc and you can watch them as soon as they’re downloaded.

Movies for download are of a wide variety, some classics, some new. The movies themselves can be either HD or SD, and there’s even a selection of titles available to download directly to your smart phone which is a cool feature.

Is it legal?

Yes, in fact, once you’ve downloaded a title, it’s yours to keep FOREVER. No locks are placed on them after a few days or anything like that (which is what some of the top movie download sites do). You could build a nice selection on your hdd and watch them later on your flat screen tv if you have the right cables to do so. The picture quality is very good, and the download speed was reasonable. An 868mb movie downloaded in just under 35 minutes, and there’s the peace of mind that it is a legal movie download.

What are the bad points of CapitalFlix?

• There isn’t a search bar, you can only find movies by scrolling through a genre and then viewing a page at a time of movies. This didn’t bother me that much though.
• The selction of movies isn’t massive yet, but that will almost certainly improve in time. CapitalFlix has only just opened.

 The good points?

• The interface is really easy to navigate, and the movie descriptions are good.
• The one time only fee is fantastic, no worries about how long until you need to renew your subscription.
• There are NO LIMITS on the amount of movies you can download.
• There are no time restrictions on the movies. Once you download them they’re yours to keep.
• The download times are pretty good too, but obviously that’s dependent on your internet connection speed.

 The Last Word.

CapitalFlix is a great “movies downloads” site. You can download the movies knowing it’s 100% legal and you can keep the movies forever once downloaded. It’s not going to replace your video store for selection, it doesn’t even have “new release” titles. What it does have is a wide selection of titles over many genres and for the price is absolutely fantastic value. For that reason I would recommend it.
